Hello World!

Welcome to the Health Is Wealth homepage! We are here to provide you with access to resources on how to live healther, be happier, eat healther, improve your overall health, reverse diabetes, and more. In the future we are working to provide information at local community events, conduct blood pressure and health screenings.

Health Is Wealth…How is Your Health?

We are doing health screening surveys to determine the needs of the local community and what you would like to learn more on and what programs would best fit the needs for you and your community to promote health. Survey links are provided in the menu under the Surveys.

If you are a Register Nurse and willing to volunteer to take blood pressures/assist with surveys and get to know your community better, please let us know. We are planning for a Health Is Wealth booth at events covering Seminole, Decatur, Miller and Thomas Counties in Southwest Georgia. If you know of upcoming community or church venues we would also appreciate names, date and contact information.

CDC HANDWASHING RECOMMENDATIONS

****CDC Handwashing Videos page has several videos on how you can keep yourself healthy by practicing improved hygiene.

Wash Your Hands Often to Stay Healthy

Follow these five steps every time you wash your hands:

  1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
  2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
  3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
  4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
  5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.

You can help yourself and your loved ones stay healthy by washing your hands often, especially during these key times when you are likely to get and spread germs:

  • Before, during, and after preparing food
  • Before eating food
  • Before and after caring for someone at home who is sick with vomiting or diarrhea
  • Before and after treating a cut or wound
  • After using the toilet
  • After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet
  • After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • After touching an animal, animal feed, or animal waste
  • After handling pet food or pet treats
  • After touching garbage
